One of the best towns to visit museums in South Dakota is Brookings. This mid-sized community features several wonderful museum options for all ages to feed your cultural cravings. As such, if you’re planning a trip to Brookings SD in the near future or already live here, consider visiting one of the following museums to learn more about everything from South Dakota culture to famous artists such as Harvey Dunn.

South Dakota Art Museum

The South Dakota Art Museum is located on the South Dakota State University campus and is best known for its rotating collection of Harvey Dunn artwork. However, the SD Art Museum offers much more than the classic Dunn pieces. The museum also features a well-designed gift shop with wonderful work from local and national artisans, a children’s room, and several great art galleries. When visiting Brookings for a cultural experience, you can’t miss the South Dakota Art Museum.

Children’s Museum of South Dakota

The Children’s Museum of South Dakota is the newest addition to the museums in South Dakota and is a great attraction for all ages. The Agricultural Heritage Museum is another cultural hotspot located on the South Dakota State University campus. This museum can be a great one to visit if you want to learn more about the agricultural history of South Dakota and the Midwest. It’s also a great place to bring children who are interested in cool machinery or anyone who is interested in agriculture.
